Hidden Talent @ Arise Africa Fashion Week 2009! July 13, 2009

Arise Africa Fashion Week 2009 took place just a mere few weeks ago in beautiful Johannesburg, South Africa. And all I have to say is, “Boy is there a lot of hidden talent!” The week was filled with novice and senior designers from all over the world, but the real treat was seeing the AFRICAN Designers presenting their work in their homeland. Check out the images and get introduced to amazing talent in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Tanzanian designer, Mustafa Hassanali’s collection was based around a tropical aura with his use of colors combined with soft sheer floaty fabrics. His looks are great for those fine summer evenings!

The Nigerian label Odio Mimonet presented a collection full of Velvet! Silks! & Sophisticated Silhouettes! Odio Mimonet makes great silhouettes for females with long lean bodies that are looking to add shape to their body.

Nigerian label, Eyola presented a collection filled with futuristic fantasy. Her pieces were mostly fashion forward silhouettes, but the great thing about her pieces is that her ideas can easily be tranformed into ready to wear.

Have you ever gotten to work or school or arrived at a party and someone (ofcourse it’s someone you don’t like) is wearing the same exact outfit as you? At first you laugh about it and try to brush it off only to realize that it’s encompassing your thoughts. Then you tell yourself it’s okay because you look better in it anyways, but then your mind keeps playing tricks on you and just maybe you don’t look better in it. OK blah blah blah I’m rambling. Diddy says “Wear White!” July 6, 2009

As all of our parents have said to us at some point or another, ”If your friend wants to jump off a bridge, does that mean you will too”? Well the obvious answer for most of us “sane people” is NO. But in rare cases like when Diddy says ,”Wear White” ,you best believe we’ll all be wearing white especially if it’s for a good cause.

This fourth of July weekend my man Diddy had his annual All White Party in Beverly Hills, CA to raise money for Malaria No more, a non-profit organization to help end Malaria in Africa. Check out the pics below of the celebs all dressed in white who came out to show their support and ofcourse get their sip on.

Well guess whatt???!!! JELLIES ARE BACK and have been RE-INVENTED. Now you can find name brand high fashion Jellies by Givenchy, Tory Burch, Vivienne Westwood, Alexandre Herchcovitch etc… It’s crazy that RUBBER made heels & sandals are such a hott item. 2009 BET AWARDS Honored Michael Jackson. June 29, 2009

Even though the recession & now Mr. Michael Jackson’s death has it us hard, doesn’t mean our spirits should be diminished. As we watched the 2009 BET Awards, host Jamie Foxx, said in more or less words that we should not weep and be saddened by Mr. Jackson’s death, but instead uplift his time here on earth and all the people he touched in the world through his music.

Artists like Beyonce, Tevin Campbell, Keith Sweat, Tyrese, Johnny Gil, and many more all perfomed in honor of the late MJ. One trend that will never die out is the infamous “Graphic Tee”. Everyone loves and owns at least a few dope Graphic T-shirts. They are great statement makers & great conversation starters or enders. Perfect for most events and are easy to dress with a great pair of jeans and dope sneaks. Check out my fellow Graphic Design buddies wearing a Graphic Tee straight out of their closet. I actually work with these guys and would hands down sign off on their work. So if you’re starting a clothing line and are looking for a few good men, you can always give them a shout and they’ll produce some money makin’ designz. Hey there Feather Head! June 19, 2009

Heyyyy there Feather Head…yesssss Feather Head. From now on, girls that wear feathers in their head are called Feather Heads. And I’m a proud Feather Head.

The trend that has hit the streets harrrddd is the Feather Head Trend or better known as feather inspired hair accessories…from headbands, pins, clips, hair ties etc… I actually got street style ripped off in Soho 3 months ago when I spent $35 for a feather head. The lady had me going on this “it’s a one of a kind, hand made, and took hours to make” bullshit. Come to find out that the bead store downstairs from my office sells beautiful feathers for $3.50cents, headbands for $3.00, and super glue for $0.99cents. DIY ladies Do It Yo SELF! Take a look at the pics below and get INSPIRED!
